A material brokerage is a person or business who has expertise in buying/selling salvaged materials, and acts as the representative of the individual buyer or seller. Material brokers often have well develped networks of relationships, and are capable of quickly identifying interested parties for different types of salvaged material sales.
Sometimes the broker will purchase the material directly and then resell it with a markup, though often the broker will not own the materials, but will instead be paid a commission or finders fee for setting up a successfull sales transaction.
In addition to direct individual brokers, there are many online brokerage sites that connect buyers and sellers.
