About Forestry Residuals

Last Updated October 27th, 2020

Forest residuals are materials leftover from logging or the manufacture of wood products, including materials remaining in the forest after harvest, along with bark and sawdust. Wood product mills often convert biomass residuals to energy while manufacturing carbon-sequestering biobased products that are useful to society. The forest products industry has created a highly efficient system for using all parts of harvested trees, providing significant forest and carbon benefits
